THE GRAND CANYON
🌎 Located in Arizona, USA and carved by the Colorado River, which has exposed nearly 2 billion years of the Planet’s geological history. It is 277 mi (446 km) long, up to 18 mi (29 km) wide, and over 1 mi (1.6 km) deep. 

ECOSYSTEM
🌎 Has 5 ecosystems: Boreal Forest (“Canadian”), Ponderosa Pine Forest (“Hudsonian”), Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (“Transition”), Desert Scrub (“Upper Sonoran”), and Desert (“Lower Sonoran”).
🌎 Home to many wildlife species, some exclusive to it and endangered. Key species are: 

🐏 Mammals: Bighorn Sheep, Kaibab Squirrel, and Western Red Bat
🦅 Birds: Bald Eagle, California Condor, and Mexican Spotted Owl
🐟 Fish: Speckled Dace, Humpback Chub, and Razorback Suckers 
🦎 Reptiles: Chuckwalla Lizard, Desert Tortoise, and Grand Canyon Rattler
🐸 Amphibians: Northern Leopard Frog, Canyon Tree Frog, and Great Plains Toad
🐜 Insects: Fire Ant, Black Widow Spider, and Giant Hairy Scorpion
