Our official partnership with renowned environmental nonprofit Rainforest Trust represents our transparent and accountable pledge to our customers to make the most effective use of their dollars to protect global biodiversity. As a Rainforest Trust corporate sponsor and Conservation Circle member, we annually donate at least $1200 USD, regardless of sales or profits, which might sound small, but is huge to a new business like ours. In addition to our yearly corporate sponsorship, we commit to donate 10% of our net profits to the Rainforest Trust Conservation Action Fund (CAF). CAF focuses on preserving habitat for species that are Critically Endangered, Endangered, and Vulnerable per the IUCN Red List.
We partnered with Rainforest Trust because for over 30 years it has succeeded in its mission to protect the most threatened tropical forests, saving endangered wildlife through partnerships and community engagement. It works to strategically buy and protect lands vital for endangered species and indigenous communities, targeting the most threatened tropical habitats that are critical for preventing species extinctions and that are exceptionally rich in biological diversity.
So far, Rainforest Trust has protected more than 40 million acres across the globe, in more than 68 countries, and saved over 2,300 endangered species.
GuideStar, the world's largest source of nonprofit information, awarded Rainforest Trust the 2021 Platinum Seal of Transparency. Since 2014, independent charity evaluator Charity Navigator has awarded Rainforest Trust its highest possible rating of 4 stars for "Exceptional" performance and accountability. Less than 1% of the thousands of charities rated by Charity Navigator have earned perfect scores.
Nearly one precious acre of forest is lost every second. With our donation to the CAF, Rainforest Trust takes swift conservation action when and where it is needed most around the world, making a tangible difference saving rainforests, species, and the Planet. So far, our donation has protected 1,195 acres of tropical forest and other critical habitat, home to many rare and endangered species, and kept 176,262 metric tonnes (mT) of carbon dioxide equivalents safely stored.
